Aiming at the configuration of the startup waterfeed system of AP 1000, using the onedimensional fluid analysis software Flowmaster, a water
feed system model was established. When the normal power supply of AP 1000 is outage, one startup waterfeed pump will be driven by standby diesel generator
set and will operate normally. Suppose that the pump stops suddenly, based on the transient analysis, the nonsteadystate operation of the waterfeed
system was simulated, and the simulation result was obtained. According to the comparison of the simulation results of different configurations, it was put
forward that to install an air intake valve in backward position of the control valve can decrease the fluctuation of the flow. When the gas storage was
installed, the fluctuation of the flow can be decreased, and the pressure rapidly increase will not occur, so the cavitations can be prevented effectively.
According to the calculation result, the control method of the transient characteristics can be established; the fluctuation of the flow can be decreased and
the cavitations can be controlled; so the startup waterfeed system of AP 1000 will operate more safely and stably.
