    Aiming at the operation features of pumped storage generator set and principle of economical dispatch,the use of pumped storage power station in operation of electric grid was analyzed,which includes peak regulation,frequency regulation,phase regulation,backup for accident,stabilization of grid voltage and others,and these are helpful to relieve of peaking load for thermal power units,to ensure stable and economical operation of thermal power units and nuclear power units and to ensure stability and safety of power grid.The value of the pumped storage station in electricity market was analyzed too.

The milling system optimal adjustment is very important for increase of boiler efficiency. The milling system of Datong Second Power Plant was adjusted by using relevant testing methods of power boiler, the influence of milling system adjustment on the boiler efficiency was analyzed. The analysis provides a foundation for rational technical reformation scheme.

    The stay ring and spiral casing of hydraulic turbine were analyzed and calculated by using the 3D-FEM analysis, and the stress and displacement calculating result of stay ring and spiral casing under hydraulic pressure test condition were obtained. The calculating result shows that when the yield strength of material is satisfiable, the spiral casing operation will be safety.

    Based on analysis of the insufficiency of mechanical braking, the common generator electrical braking method by shorting of stator three phase windings was discussed. According to this, two new braking methods were proposed and schematic diagrams were given. The features and applicable occasions of several electrical braking methods were analyzed and compared. The feasibility and practicability of high voltage side short circuit braking of generator transformer set and reverse connection braking for medium and small unit were pointed out. The discussion in this paper provides the groundwork for the rational selection of electrical braking method in hydropower plant.

    The principle of ignition by using plasma burner was introduced. The plasma burner and configuration of its additional system and auxiliary devices in Inner Mongolia Datang International Tuoketuo Power Generation Corporation Limited Project phase IV were discoursed. Based on this, two requirements of coal quality for plasma ignition were put forward. Depending on application the plasma ignition technology in the corporation, the oil free ignition in boiler cold start was realized basically, and requests of boiler temperature raising curve and pressure raising curve were satisfied, so the oil saving purpose was achieved.

    The general status of power station in 10Mt/a oil refining project of Guangxi Petroleum & Chemical Corporation of China National Petroleum Corporation was introduced. The selection of its desulphurization scheme was described. Both advantages and disadvantages of limestone gypsum wet desulphurization process and ammonia fertilizer process were compared. Combining with concrete situation of Guangxi Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, a flue gas desulphurization scheme was selected which is accordant with refinery practical situation. This scheme can be used as a reference for similar projects.

    To prevent water to be entrapped in the lubrication oil and the oil to leak out from the oil baffle of steam turbine, the clean compressed air can be injected into oil baffle cavity of each bearing shell of the turbine, which flow in both direction of outer space and oil housing, preventing the oil to leak out and the steam to flow into the oil housing. The pressures of the compressed air of the adjustment valves at the inlet and outlet of each bearing shell were determined by detailed calculation of the compressed air flow needed for each bearing shell, the fluid resistance of each bearing shell and the resistance of backair pipe. The oil leakage from the oil baffles and entrapped water into the oil housings of the beating shells were eliminated, the safety operation of turbine in long period was ensured, and a lot of labor forces and material resources were saved due to adopting above mentioned measures.

    Rotary air preheater is heat exchange equipment widely used in large and mediumsize power boiler at the rear. The fatal shortcoming of the equipment is high air leakage factor. The leakage air not only influences the thermal efficiency of boiler and the supply of air flow, but also increases the power consumption of the draft fans, and this leads the increase of both grass and net coal consumption rate. Ten of ideas for prevention and control of air leakage of air preheater were proposed in this paper.

    There were problems of sealing untightness and leakage occurred in the feed pump recirculating valve of Liaoning Huadian Tieling Power Generation Corporation Limited. The reasons found by analysis were cavitation, encroachment and attack occurred at the sealing face of the valve seat. The valve structure was reformed by adopting three measures. The sealing and adjustment performance of the reformed recirculating valve are excellent, and leakage fault des not occur again in operation. So a good economical benefit was obtained.

    The principle of recirculating zone staged igniting combustion technology is as follow: based on the slitting bluffbody burner, a few coal air flow is leaded into the recirculating zone and ignited first, it becomes a ignition source and is used to ignite the main coal air flow, so the staged igniting combustion process is realized, and the combustion of poorgrade coal is strengthening, the flame stability is raised. The technology was applied in a 220t/h pulverizedfuel boiler of a petrochemical enterprise, and good technical, economical indexes were archived.

    The accident of tube cracking in platen superheater of boiler in a power plant was occurred soon after putting into operation, and the chink had features of overtemperature in short time and in long time. Combining the features of the chink, according to the metallographic analysis and hardness test of the cracked tube, some possible reasons were excluded which includes heat deviation of tube platen, misoperation of boiler operator and quality of the tube material. It is defined that there was foreign object in the tube which caused the tube operated in overtemperature at long time, so the oxide coating was created. The oxide coating peeled off during the start up and shutdown and blinded the tube, this caused the tube operated in serious overtemperature, and the tube cracking occurred finally.
